MONITOR
Is your safety performance actually improving, or just moving?
Monitor is ORM Safety's reporting service. Each period we take your safety data, score it against the things that matter, and give you findings that separate what the data says from what it means - written for the people who have to act on it.
A number moved. That is not the same as the risk changing.
Most safety reporting says what happened and leaves the interpretation to whoever is reading it. So injuries fall and it gets called an improvement. A site inside a group deteriorates and the group average absorbs it. A control quietly stops being verified and nothing in the pack says so.
Monitor is built to catch exactly those. A fall in injuries is not reported as an improvement unless the rest of the evidence supports it. A group is not reported as steady when one area inside it is not.
HOW IT WORKS
Scored against the right thing, not just against last month.
• Performance is scored across five dimensions - outcomes, exposure, prevention, leadership and engagement - built from indicators drawn from your own operating areas.
• Where an absolute expectation exists, such as action closure or critical control verification, performance is measured against it. Where none exists, it is measured against your own trailing baseline.
• Weighting is adjusted to the risk profile of your industry, and it is published in the report rather than buried in it.
• Every finding is set out in four parts: the data, the analysis, the interpretation and the recommendation. Nothing is called a cause when the evidence only shows two things moving together.
• The evidence itself is scored. A thin or inconsistent data set drags the confidence figure down, and the report states the limitation rather than reporting through it.
Send us the numbers, not the names.
We ask only for what the reporting needs, and we ask you to de-identify it before it reaches us. The index is built from counts and rates by area and period, not from individual records, so in almost every case removing names costs you nothing in the reporting.
Your data is used to produce your reports and for nothing else. It is not shared outside the engagement, and it is never identified to another client. At the end of an engagement it is returned or destroyed, whichever you ask for.
WHAT YOU GET
Four reports, one set of data.
• Department - for the people who run the work, at the level they control.
• Business - for the managers accountable for the area.
• Executive - the position across the organisation, and what is moving.
• Board - assurance matters and the questions a director should be asking. Not a shorter executive report.
Behind all four sits the measure that matters most: safety effort against safety outcome - whether what the organisation is putting in is showing up in what it is getting out.
It starts where the Assessment finishes.
Monitor is built to run on from a Safety Reality Assessment, holding the same evidence standard period after period. It can also be set up on its own where reporting is the immediate problem.
The quickest way to judge it is to watch it run against your own reporting structure. That takes a conversation and about half an hour.
